16^th BANGSI FESTIVAL 2023: A Complete Event Schedule, Activities , Travel Tips,  and History

The Bangsi Festival is a celebration of the abundance of fish in the local area called “Bangsi” (flying fishing), which is a delicious specialty that is only found in Maitum in the province of Sarangani. Women’s organizations and a few entrepreneur-type individuals were producing “marinated bangsi” flying fish that were dried on the sun for half an hour and then marinated with local spices. 

Bangsi Festival in the Philippines (Maitum, Sarangani) celebrates a year long abundance of fish that has led to dried fish becoming a lucrative business in the area. One of the main highlights during the event is Sugba-sugba sa Kadalanan. During this festival, the streets will be packed with locals ready to grill a ton of Bangsi for anyone who wants to try this delectable treat.

Maitum’s 16th Bangsi Festival 2023 brings you the first ever “Goddesses of the Ocean”

Goddesses of the Ocean revolutionizes the way we view pageants as the municipality strives to take bigger and bolder steps in the battle of beauty, charisma, and confidence!

Eight ( aspiring sexy lovely ladies hailing from different places will be chosen to exude their sophistication on an outdoor stage to vie for the most beautiful Goddess among themselves.

The candidates will compete on the following categories:
1. Aquatic Attire (Festival Attire )
2. Sexy Bohemian
3. 1 Minute Opening Speech
4. Swim Wear Attire
CANDIDATES should meet the following minimum qualifications:
1. Must be 21 to 27 years old only.
2.Must be of good health & have good moral.
3.At least 5’3″ in height.
4.Must be single and never been pregnant.
5.Must attend all scheduled pre-pageant activities.
6.Must agree and abide by all the rules and regulations set forth by the committee.
REQUIREMENT FOR SCREENING:
1. Candidate must submit 2-minute video with the following contents:
*30 seconds to introduce herself including her name, age, and address.
*1 minute wearing and flaunting her swimwear
*The remaining 30 seconds focusing the beautiful face of the candidate.
Prizes:
WINNER – Php 12,000.00
1st Runner Up – Php 10,000.00
2nd Runner Up – Php 7,000.00
5 Consolation Prizes – Php 5,000.00 each

16th Bangsi Festival “PAMINGWIT” Shore Casting Tournament

(Open for MaKiMa participants only.)

𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒
🐟Target Species is ANY! (Except sharks, rays, “butete”, & parrotfish.)
🐟Below 4 inches fish will not be accepted.
🐟Participants who will fish or cast in prohibited areas will be disqualified.
🐟Venue of the Tournament is within the shores of Maitum Fishport going to Bukana Kalaong and vice versa.
🐟 Strictly NO using of roads going to Bukana Kalaong, all anglers should pass through the shoreline.
🐟NO fresh baits or live baits are allowed. All lures only!
🐟Open “Sabiki” but maximum of 1 hook only.
🐟Strictly No Drone-Fishing or any use of remotely controlled fishing-aid gadgets.
🐟1 rod & 1 reel per registered angler. No limit in size of reel, line and rod.
🐟Handline fishing is not allowed!
🐟Only land-based fishing is allowed, use of any watercrafts is not allowed.
🐟Only co-participants can help you lifting your catch. Non-participants or “alalays” are strictly prohibited in fishing areas.
🐟When a participant is reeling a fish, affected participants should give way.
🐟Stricly NO littering it can disqualify you.
🐟Let’s promote responsible fishing, release fishes below 4inches.
🐟Entry to the tournament is non-transferable and cannot be refunded.
🐟Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will result to the DISQUALIFICATION of an angler without a refund.
🐟Consumption and bringing of alcohol beverages is prohibited and shall be ground for DISQUALIFICATION.
🐟CHEATING in any form can disqualify you.
🐟Strictly no transferring/sharing of catch to other angler, it can disqualify you.
🐟All participants must arrive on or before 4:00AM at Maitum Fishport, Cawa, Brgy. Mabay, Maitum Sarangani Province for the quick orientation.
🐟Tournament will start at exactly 5:00AM and ends at 10:00AM.
🐟The rules, guidelines, and decision of the Organizer is Final and irrevocable.

Maitum Tourist Spots and Activities during BANGSI FESTIVAL 2023

16TH BANGSI FESTIVAL 2023 Do’s and Don’t  During the Celebration

 

1. No fly zone for Drones.
2. No backpacks are allowed inside/within the engagement area. For. females (a small sling bag is only allowed).
3. Bringing intoxicating liquor is strictly prohibited.
4. Deadly weapons are strictly prohibited(knives, icepicks, bottled drinks, nail cutter with a knife).
5. No SMOKING inside the gym and engagement area.
6. No ambulant vendors are allowed inside the Gym.
